These German spice cookies are tasty at Christmas or any time of the year.
Ingredients
  • ½ cup molasses
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 cups flour
  • ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp anise extract
  • 1½ tsp ground cardamon
Instructions
  1. Melt molasses, honey, and butter together in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until creamy.
  2. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature then stir in eggs, sugar, and anise.
  3. In a large bowl combine flout, cardamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and pepper.
  4. Add molasses mixture to the flour mixture and chill in refrigerator for 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  6. Roll dough into acorn-sized balls
  7. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 10-15 minutes.
  8. Cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar.
