Notecard Purses with Free Template

To make this fun DIY craft, all you really need is paper and a printer. Use the free printable template then add stamps or a button if you like. My aunt and I made these purse shaped notecards during our craft show days and they were a big hit. One of the best things about them is that each one can be made from a 8.5″x11″ piece of cardstock and they fit in a standard 5 3/4″ x 41/2″ notecard envelope. I found packs of 50 envelopes at Big Lots for $1! Check your local dollar stores as well.

Print the below template onto a piece of cardstock by clicking the photo to enlarge then right clicking to save to your computer. Sorry about the line on the right!

I like to go ahead and stamp the “right” side of the paper at this point so the card looks as if it were cut from patterned paper instead of stamped as an afterthought. You’ll still have to stamp the opposite side of the purse handle after it’s cut out though.

Cut the solids lines, fold into thirds, and create the slit using a utility knife. Refer to the photos below as a guide.

Glue on a button to finish.

You may find it easier to create a “dummy card” using the printed template then trace onto a new piece of cardstock to create erasable fold and cut lines using a pencil. Either way once you’ve made one or two you’ll be amazed at how easy this is!
