Homemade Oatmeal Bath

Sweet T has diaper rash for the first time in her life. I’m thinking weaning has something to do with it but since I’m not going to start nursing again now that she’s eating table food like a champ, all I can do is try to force more water and juice in her and give her oatmeal baths. Why pay for oatmeal bath soak in the store when you can make it yourself? All you need is oatmeal (rolled oats, quick cook or instant will all work as long as there’s no sugar or flavoring added); a coffee grinder, blender or food processor; and a clean, empty container with a lid.

Grind the oats into powder and store. That’s it! Use about 1/3 cup for a toddler’s bath water in the sink. Use more if bathing in the bathtub with more water. This makes a nice, natural soak for mama too. :)

  1. I don’t know why I didn’t think to do this! I have been buying it for about 2 years now for my daughter.

  2. I know you are trying to take care of the diaper rash in a natural way, but if it gets too bad, you might want to consider using miconazole. Diaper rash is a form of yeast infection and this will cure it pretty quick. You only need to apply a little bit. Be careful on the type of juice you give her too, because some of them just make the rash worse. Not trying to get in your “business,” but after kids and grandkids I learned the hard way. I so hope she gets better. Hugs to both of you.

  3. This looks great, my little one is suffering from dry skin and I think this will be wonderful, thank you!
